Dancing Bears Park lies in the south of Rile mountain on the place of Andrianov chark about 12 km above the village of Belica. The park was created on the initiative of the organization Vier Pfoten, Brigitte Bardot Foundation and Belica municipality for confiscated “dancing bears”. In Bulgaria there were common wandering gypsy bear-keepers, who walked through cities with violins and bear on a chain. They played the violin and bears danced, for which they took alms. After the accession of Bulgaria to the EU, this tradition was banned due to animal cruelty. The park in Belitsa was founded just for these bears (it was 25 registered dancing bears + 3 bears from Serbia). However later, also bears from some unsatisfactory zoos were added.
The Dancing Bears 12000 m sq sanctuary is located in the forest. Each enclosure has wooded areas, pools and digging areas where the bears can play and follow their natural instincts.
The park has two parts connected by a bridge – 7 enclosures of different sizes, info center etc.
